Shaping a national strategy for women’s housing in regional Australia
YWCA Australia
The Challenge
YWCA Housing sought to better understand the challenges regional women face in securing adequate housing. They sought insights to inform a national strategic plan and lobby policymakers.
The Journey
We undertook a significant project involving a national survey and qualitative research with women on low and moderate incomes.
We consolidated key findings into a publishable 30-page summary report, sharing the key stories from the research.
We worked closely with YWCA’s communications team to elevate and amplify the insights to government and community stakeholders.
The Result
During the first week of the research launch, insights were featured in The Australian and The Guardian, many regional papers, dozens of radio interviews, and WIN NEWS TV.
The research has been positively received by the housing sector and general public, including a media statement from the Tasmanian Greens and engagement with various MPs.
The insights informed YWCA Housing’s national strategic plan and are a significant positioning piece for lobbying and advocacy.
